Pipes

Pipes, known as Blue Star uPVC brand, are made of high-grade composite virgin materials. Our pipes are durable, lightweight, non-toxic, non-flammable and can withstand extreme internal and external pressures which made it very ideal for a variety of applications such as potable water distribution, drainage waste and sewer lines, agricultural irrigation, mining slurry lines and tube well casing.

The latest in construction utility pipes is streamlined for quality and versitality.

Molded from a unique plastic component, Blue Star uPVC pipe has been tested for durability and stength.

It can withstand the toughest internal and external pressure from solid, liquid or gas while put to use. The strongest of chemicals, including acids and alkali, won't corrode it. Non-toxic, it is ideal for transport of drinking water and other edible substances. Neither will it suffer abrasions from charred glass or metal, among other sharp objects. That it is non-flammable and makes for a safe conductor of electricity is incostestable.

The best part of Blue Star uPVC pipe is its light weight. Compared to conventional pipes, it is easier to haul around and install.

All this and more.

Versatile as it is Blue Star uPVC pipes is ideal for functions such as:

Pipe Installation FAQ

  1. Should there be a need to rechamfer or widen the chamfer dimensions of the pipe's spigot end before jointing / installation?

    NO NEED TO
Because the spigot end of the pipe had already been pre-chamfered based on standarrd reqquirements of BPS during manufacture. The more alteration done on the chamfer, the more it will become susceptible to breakage or busting during pressure application.
  2. Aside from "Margarine", can the pipe fitter use other alternative lubricants like used engine oil etc... for jointing uPVC pipes?

    NO
Engine oil and other toxic lubricants are prohibited for use in uPVC pipe jointing / installation particularly for potable water line application.
  3. Can we interconnect uPVC pipe made/supplied by various pipe manufacturers?

    Yes
Unless these manufacturers are accredited by the BPS (Bureau of Product Standards) of which they are supposed to manufacture and supply uPVC pipes based on BPS approved standard specifications.
Provided however, use only respective rubber gasket supplied by the same brand as the uPVC pipes to avoid misfitting of the gaskets to the design of the hub groove.
  4. Is it possible to cold bend the pipe and follow the curvature of the trench on site during pipe laying installation?

    Yes! Provided that:
    a. the radius of curvative shall not be less than 300 times the outside diameter
    of the pipe being installed.

    b. The hub and curvature of the pipe shall be properly supported by thrust block as prescribed in the standard procedure/practice in Pipe laying/installation.
  5. Can deep indentations or excessive scratches on the pipes outer/inner surface cause leakage or bursting of pipes during hydrotest pressure application?

Yes! Proper care in handling storage and installation of uPVC pipe must be taken into consideration for a leak - free or problem - free hydro test pressure application.  Never drag or drop uPVC pipes on sharp / protruding objects or on rough surfaces.
